"Your name" is a Japanese animation directed by Shinkai Makoto. With music composed by Radwimps, a Japanese rock band. It was released on August 26th, 2016, in Japan. Ryunosuke Kamiki and Mone Kamishiraishi were the vocal cast of the main characters, Taki Tachibana and Mitsuha Miyamizu.
II. Plot
Taki was a kindhearted high school teenage boy living in Tokyo. And Mitsuha was a cute high school teenage girl living in a rural town in Japan named Itomori, she was really fed up with small-town life and Longing for the life in Tokyo. And she was very embarrassed by her family traditional--making kuchikamizake, which is a kind of rice-based alcohol produced by a process involving human saliva as a fermentation starter. According to Mitsuha's grand mother, the kuchikamizake represents the soul of people who made it. The story sets on 2013, two high school teenagers realized that their soul will exchange into another same age teenager's body. though it happens once to twice in a week, they've never met face-by-face. Until one day, Taki realizes that their soul stopped to exchange, so he decided to meet Mitsuha to figure our what is going on. But when he finally arrives Itomori, the town where Mitsuha lives, the town was ruined. According to the residents living around Itomori, they said the town was destroyed by the comet 3 years ago, which is not reasonable, because Taki and Mitsuha exchanged their soul a week before. But her name on the records of fatalities proved the event. Through the records of fatalities, Taki finds out the date was separated in 3 years. Suddenly Taki understand all the strange events and he ran to the cave where Mitsuha's kuchikamizake is located. He drinked all her kuchikamizake and his soul went into her body again. At last, Taki saved Mitsuha and her town by convincing her how to do when he was in her body.
The how do we explain the events? Eventually, the time mixed up. Mitsuha's soul went into Taki's body in 2013, which Mitsuha was a highschool stusent, and Taki was a middle school student. In 2013, Mitsuha traveled to 2016 Taki's body, so when Mitsuha met Taki on 2013, Taki didn't know her. And the Comet destroyed the town in 2013, after Mitsuha met Taki. In 2016, Taki started to exchange his body with 2013's Mitsuha, so when he went to meet Mitsuha in 2016, Mitsuha was dead. Then he drank Mitsuha's kuchikamizake to travel back to 2013 to save the town.
III. Personal Opinion
In my opinion, I believe this is a greatest movie I've ever seen. There are lots of reasons that I can talk about. First, it's very detail. In the movie, there are lots of scenes that only appeared once or twice for few seconds, Shinkai Makoto still drew all the details in it. For example how do we know that Mitsuha like pink hedgehog, phone case was designed with hedgehogs, and there was a hedgehog doll in her room and she brought it to Tokyo after she grew up. In all these evidence, we can know that Mitsuha loves hedgehogs very much. Second is the delicate character design. All the characters, including the characters that only show up once, were all well designed. You can tell that the producers putted lots of effort on the characters if you closely look at all the movements and all the scenes for every single characters. Third is the story plot and setting. Every scene in the movie is exists in this movie. Shinkai Makoto positioned all the characters as they really exists in our life, including time line. Mitsuha and Taki met in 2021, which is about tho years later. So this is letting the fans get more excited. For the story plot, I believe the story plot is the main reason why this movie got so many people's heart. The story plot is really special, all the time traveling and the mixing up in timeline will make people interested in this movie.s? IV. Conclusion
This movie is one of the movie that I highly recommend all the movie lovers or anyone else to watch. I have different ideas with my friends and families after we watched this movie. So I recommend the people that are going to watch this movie, call your friends or family to watch it together, and share your ideas with them. This movie will be the best movie you have ever seen.
